The basic principle of DTP in the translation business is: "layout must mirror the original".
This goal is not easy to achieve: an in-depth knowledge of the DTP software is a necessary condition, but not sufficient.
The operator is expected to have an excellent grasp of the various aspects involved in the process:limitations and page layout rules specific to each language, limitations imposed by CAT tools, source and target languages, different software versions.
Also, the DTP process may require a number of additional specific operations: localization of images and graphics, creating tables of contents and indexes, image and screenshot, editing, generating PDF files.
